Performance Pipe, a division of Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP, is the largest producer of polyethylene piping products in North America. This position initiates and improves the efforts of Performance Pipe Procurement a Division of Chevron Phillips Chemical LP to achieve lowest total cost and operational excellence. Will play an active role in all plant procurement related activities including, but not limited to, cost effective sourcing, contracting, projects and other plant procurement activities. Analyzes, supports, and actively participates in the development and implementation of sourcing strategies for procurement functions for all Performance Pipe plants and the Performance Pipe Plano office. Responsible for delivering and tracking quantifiable financial benefits and value creation. Facilitates the transfer of best practices and continuous improvement processes and practices for achieving transactional excellence.

Position Roles & Respo nsibilities :

  • Serves as the primary Procurement liaison to the Performance Pipe plants and Plano office to identify and capitalize on savings/value opportunities through the utilization of effective sourcing strategies and bidding/RFP/RFQ processes - work primarily within the framework of existing agreements and Global Procurement goals and objectives (PBD, Supplier Diversity, etc.).

  • Collaborate with the Performance Pipe project engineers to identify evolving project execution resourcing needs such as new vendor set up, safety documentation and contracting needs on a project-by-project basis.

  • Review supplier/contractor proposals for project related materials and/or services and ensure alignment and consistency with applicable contracted terms.

  • Use available systems and tools to compile and track supplier/contractor nonconformances and performance related issues and seek root causes and effective corrective action plans to drive continuous improvement and future project success.

  • Implements, oversees, negotiates, and executes Procurement Contracts and maintains contracts as contract owner.

  • Work with all Performance Pipe plants to maintain and execute Approved Vendor Lists and required Supplier Evaluations.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, Legal and suppliers regarding contract origination, implementation, and execution.

  • Responsible for new suppliers including but not limited to identifying, reviewing, obtaining necessary documentation for new supplier, and working with Accounts Payable for new supplier implementation.

  • Utilize Global Procurement Responsible Sourcing Program to drive diverse, sustainable, socially responsible and environmentally friendly procurement practices

  • Understand and support the development and implementation of procurement transactional efficiency improvement strategies. Recognize opportunities for value added local or strategic contracts and involve contract administrators and buyers to drive resolutions.

  • Interface with strategic suppliers to solve problems involving pricing, supplier performance, or any other matters that may arise.

  • Create solid business relationships with suppliers and internal customers.

  • Organize and lead business reviews with suppliers as required to drive continuous improvement.

  • Execute metrics and controls to manage and monitor vendor relationships.

  • As required, will prepare Requests for Proposals (RFP), and coordinate the bidding process through contract award and contracting, as needed.

  • Assist in the resolution of invoice discrepancies and purchase order variances.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders on variances for onsite work, as needed.

  • Collaborate with all levels of the organization to drive continuous project procurement process improvement efforts.

Required Qualifications :

  • BS or BA Undergraduate Degree OR 3 years of equivalent relevant manufacturing and/or commercial experience

  • Uncompromising commitment to safe work practices and to the ethical and legal policies of Chevron Phillips Chemical Company.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (with emphasis on Excel and Access) and SAP

  • Possess project management and organizational skills.

Preferred Qua l ifications :

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with SAP in a purchasing role.

  • Minimum of 3 years manufacturing and commercial experience preferred.

  • Specific experience with Business Communications including general knowledge of contracting, contract negotiation, strategic sourcing, an understanding of the legal framework of business, and/or a general understanding of compliance and risk from a business perspective.

  • Supplier relationship experience (managing significant internal stakeholders and external supplier relationships at multiple levels in their organizations)

  • Proven strong capability and experience driving compliance with procurement policies and practices.
