DEPARTMENT:YouthREPORTS TO:Divisional Youth SecretarySUPERVISES:Summer Camp StaffSTATUS:ExemptSCHEDULE:Full Time (Including select evenings, weekends, and holidays)FUNCTION:In coordination with Youth Department, work with all aspects of the summer camp program, as well as develop and maintain connection, communication, and growth of the Young Adults of the Swoneky Division.

Responsibilities

DUTIES Camp 1. Design, evaluate, prepare, and execute a summer camp program that aligns with the mission of The Salvation Army.2. Ensure that the Camp Swoneky program is delivered in a high-quality, and safe manner, that is in accordance with all governmental, ACA and Salvation Army regulations.3. Maintain current knowledge and understanding of best practices regarding camp programming and the developmental needs of the youth we serve.4. Serve as a resource and liaison in communication with the corps to develop a comprehensive and effective camp program as well as a leadership pipeline that feeds back into the corps and communities.5. Create and distribute resources for camper recruitment, assist in camper registrations, provide feedback and guidance to corps for camper connections.6. In coordination with Youth Department team, organize and implement all aspects of staff recruitment. Including, college and high school visitation, implementing church and school partnerships, organizing internships, and hiring international staff; updating, receiving, and distributing staff applications, conducting staff interviews, onboarding hired staff, and organizing staff paperwork.7. Organize, train, and implement an effective process for summer staff evaluations.8. In coordination with Youth Department team, plan and develop staff training, orientation and TSA mandated KeepSafe.9. Prepare all necessary equipment/supplies for the summer camp program.10. Organize and assist in the opening and closing of the camp program.11. Organize all specialized training for seasonal staff, ensuring proper certifications and obtained.12. Prepare and maintain all necessary materials for ACA re-accreditation.13. Maintain and update Camp Swoneky website and social media pages.14. Assisting the DYS in behavioral and disciplinary issues among staff and campers.15. Assist the DYS in evaluating and updating the yearly budget for summer camp operations.16. Attend camping conferences and other educational opportunities that will assist in meeting the goals above. i.e. DYL Conference, ACA Conference, Ohio ACA Cluster Meetings, CCCA Conferences.

Young Adults 1. Assist in planning and execution of youth and young adult events as per the direction or approval of the DYS.2. Develop and maintain a database/listing of young adults in the division as well as students from Swoneky who leave for college in other states.3. Maintain regular communication with young adults for the purpose of cultivating a discipleship culture of connection, growth, development and service.4. Find creative ways to maintain connection with the young adults and college students of the division.5. Maintain communication with corps officers of college students as well as officers who function as college liaisons.6. Establish opportunities for young adult fellowship and discipleship.7. Develop spring service and missions opportunities for young adults.8. Provide resources and guidance to corps regarding young adult development and leadership opportunities.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. High School diploma or equivalent2. Supervisory experience3. Must be safety conscious4. Must be able to provide excellent customer service5. Must possess excellent hospitality skills6. Must be able to work well with others7. Must be able to meet Salvation Army driving requirements8. Must be able to problem solve in a professional manner9. Must possess and understanding of and appreciation for the mission of the Salvation Army10.Must be clear of state and federal violations of abuse to children and vulnerable adults
