Naperville Park District Early Childhood Coordinator in Naperville, Illinois

Salary:

$25/hr

Schedule:

Monday- Thursday 8:00am-2:00pm

Friday: 8:00am-1:00pm

Overview:

The Early Childhood Instructor reports to the Early Childhood Program Manager and Early Childhood Program Coordinator and is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing developmentally appropriate activities within early childhood programs to parents and children of newborns to age six.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Program Manager with curriculum development/edits that reflect program/student/teacher needs.

  • In conjunction with the Program Manager, supervises staff implementation of curriculum in a developmentally age appropriate manner and designed for the needs and growth of each individual child.

  • Assist in hiring/training staff and communicating expectations.

  • Work cooperatively with fellow teachers to assist in obtaining the goals and objectives of the program.

  • Observe staff on an on-going basis.

  • Provides input into annual performance appraisals of staff.

  • Model communication with children that is positive, genuine, and respectful.

  • Work in conjunction with fellow staff members in making referrals and developing program plans for children with special needs.

  • Supervise curriculum meetings highlighting areas of focus and retraining staff on curriculum as needed.

  • Assist with staff meetings, teacher institutes and in-service trainings. Facilitate and attend parent meetings as needed.

  • Schedule and conduct preschool tours with prospective clients.

  • Facilitate new student registration and introduction into the preschool program.

  • Responsible for purchasing supplies for programs on a monthly and on an as needed basis within budget constraints. Maintain the supply inventory.

  • Submit appropriate expense reports.

  • Responsible for assisting the Program Manager with the coordination of parent events, preschool graduation, special events and holiday programs.

  • Facilitate daily staffing.

  • Demonstrate and support park district customer service standards.

  • Follow district and departmental safety, personnel, and administrative policies, procedures and ordinances.

  • Maintain on-going open communication with Program Manager.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Role model to all staff regarding interaction with children and parents.

  • Distribute written communication as necessary or requested by the organization.

  • Record and communicate any difficult situations or behaviors to parents immediately.

  • Record and keep incident/accident reports with a copy to the Program Manager.

  • Substitute as needed.

Education and Experience:

  • Must have a high school diploma. B.S., B.A. or A.A. degree in Early Childhood or related field preferred.

  • Five years of early childhood or teaching experience required.

  • Must have an understanding of early childhood developmentally appropriate practices

Special Considerations:

  • Maintain and/or obtain current certification in CPR and First Aid within 3 months of hire.

  • Requires flexibility of work schedule during high volume work periods.

  • Work is subject to inside/outside environmental conditions

  • Ability to lift, carry and/or move object(s) weighing than 30 lbs.
