Title: Insights Engineer

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Insights Engineer to join our dynamic project team. This role combines the responsibilities of a Business Analyst, Data Analyst, and Quality Assurance Tester. The Insights Engineer will play a central part in analyzing business requirements, defining analytics for new product features and acceptance criteria, managing project delivery, leveraging data insights, and validating solutions.

As an Insights Engineer, you will be responsible for leveraging both qualitative and quantitative data to get a complete picture of the customer experience. You will utilize Jira to write complex user stories that capture the needs of our customers to drive in-depth video-product usage analytics. Ultimately, your role as an Insights Engineer is critical to translating user data into actionable insights that create value for Charter. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to define metrics, track progress, and ensure our products meet the evolving needs of our user base. In order to ensure the data is accurate, you will also oversee test analytics to track testing trends, monitor error rates, and ensure high-quality product implementations. Working closely with the development and QA teams, you will develop comprehensive test plans, document test cases and results, and partner to troubleshoot issues.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Analysis (40%)

  • Elicit, analyze, and document comprehensive business and user requirements

  • Develop detailed process flows, use cases, and other analytical artifacts to support solution design

  • Utilize project management software like Jira to write complex user stories that capture the needs of our product’s feature set

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to define acceptance criteria, acceptance tests, and analytics requirements for each user story

  • Serve as the primary product owner, managing the analytics SDK’s backlog and represent the requirements for all new capabilities

  • Work closely with the development team to prioritize features, refine requirements, and ensure end-to-end delivery

Data Analysis (30%)

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret complex data sets from various sources, including video-product usage analytics

  • Leverage data insights to inform business decisions and drive product enhancements

  • Design and implement reporting dashboards and utilize analytics tools to uncover new insights

Testing & Validation (30%)

  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans to validate functionality and quality

  • Utilize test analytics to track trends, monitor errors, and ensure high-quality releases

  • Partner with developers to troubleshoot issues and drive continuous improvement

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in a hybrid business analyst, product owner, and data analyst role

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to translate business needs into technical requirements

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Proficient in data analysis, reporting, and visualization tools

  • Experience in quality assurance and software testing practices

  • Preferred: Code development skills, experience with YAML, SQL, GIT

  • Solid understanding of SQL, rational databases, and normalization

  • Proficiency in use of query and reporting analysis tools (Tableau, Pivot, Elastic Search)

  • Proven experience using project management tools like Jira to write complex user stories
