Position Summary

The Department of Clinical Sciences at Colorado State University seeks applications for

a 12-month, 2-year contract, non-tenure track Instructor or Assistant Professor in Equine Emergency Surgery and Critical Care.

The Equine Emergency Surgery and Critical Care Service position manages the equine emergency surgery and critical care caseload at the Johnson Family Equine Hospital ( JFEH ). This position will support clinical and didactic teaching in the DVM program, graduate student/resident and fellow training, and research in Equine Emergency Surgery and Critical Care. The position also supports an important clinical service in the JFEH in client service and revenue generation. This faculty position will provide up to34 weeksof clinical service. Additionally, we expect the successful candidate will seek out opportunities and participate in collaborative research. Numerous opportunities for collaborative research exist throughout the college and university.

Required Job Qualifications

Instructor:

• DVM or equivalent veterinary professional degree.

• At least 3 years of experience, including completion of residency training in either large animal surgery, or LA emergency/critical care with advanced surgical training.

• Demonstrated ability to work with others in a team atmosphere.

Assistant Professor:

• DVM or equivalent veterinary professional degree.

• Diplomate of the American or European College of Veterinary Surgeons ( ACVS / ECVS ) or American College of Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care (LA).

• Demonstrated ability to work with others in a team atmosphere.

Preferred Job Qualifications

Instructor:

• Board eligibility in the American or European College of Veterinary Surgeons ( ACVS / ECVS ) or American College of Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care (LA) with advanced surgical training in both equine and livestock species.

• Interest in collaborative research

Assistant Professor:

• Board eligibility or certification by the American College of Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care (LA)

• 3-5 years of experience in clinical service and instruction of veterinary students and house officers

• Interest in collaborative research or an advanced degree and/or postdoctoral research experience.
