Insight Global Geotechnical Staff Engineer in Chesapeake, Virginia

Job Description

This position will provide professional geotechnical engineering services on a variety of public and private sector projects including buildings, bridges, roadways, and pavements, retaining and shoring structures, underground infrastructure, storage tanks, towers, slopes and embankments, dams, and other civil works projects. Services will be performed during both the design and construction phases of projects.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Work with other members of the geotechnical services department including geologists, technicians, drill crews and sub-consultants to deliver exceptional results.

  • Prepare geotechnical project work scopes, budgets, and proposals.

  • Plan and coordinate field exploration programs including site reconnaissance.

  • Perform soil and rock classification.

  • Plan and coordinate geotechnical laboratory testing programs.

  • Perform geotechnical engineering analysis, calculations, and computer modeling.

  • Develop geotechnical engineering design parameters and recommendations.

  • Prepare geotechnical engineering reports and deliverables.

  • Manage geotechnical engineering projects, including project schedules, budgets, and invoicing.

  • Communicate with existing and potential clients.

  • Site visits during construction phase to ensure successful implementation of geotechnical recommendations.

Skills and Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering concentration

  • 3-4 years of geotechnical experience. Will accept 2 years. Writing report, reviewing, and logging soil samples

  • Proficient with engineering software such as gINT null
