Language Interpreter

Fast-paced, high-volume clinic looking for a top skilled Language Interpreter

Work location: 8200 Walnut Hill Lane Dallas, Texas 75231

Work environment: The majority of your assignments will be Texas Health Dallas; However, you could be asked to travel to Texas Health sites in Collin and Kaufman counties, as well.

Work hours: PRN; the majority of the hours (8am-430pm, 730am-4pm or 630am-3pm) Monday - Friday; You will need to work at least 1 Saturday per month, be able to work major holidays and cover last minute call-ins

Here’s What You Need:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (REQUIRED)

  • Completion of Catholic Charities Community Interpreting program or any equivalent interpreter qualifying program (PREFERRED)

  • Batchelor's Degree in Interpretation and Translation, Languages or Linguistics (PREFERRED)

  • Two years of work experience in language interpretation or bilingual customer/patient experience in a hospital or healthcare facility (REQUIRED)

  • One year of work experience as a medical interpreter in a hospital or healthcare facility or One year of related work experience in a medical interpretation and Baccalaureate or higher degree in interpretation or translation (REQUIRED)

  • Bilingual English/Spanish (STRONGLY PREFERRED)

  • )

  • National Professional Certification credentials, such as CCHI Certified Healthcare Interpreter (AHI-CHI) upon Hire (PREFERRED)

  • National Professional Certification credentials, such as CCHI Certified Healthcare Interpreter (AHI-CHI) within 2 years (REQUIRED)

  • Strong computer skills and ability to multi-task and juggle phone calls, email requests and Vocera calls simultaneously (PREFERRED)

  • Reliable Transportation (STRONGLY PREFERRED)

What You Will Do:

· Facilitate accurate medical and health care related information during routine and non-routine patient care activities, between clinicians and THR system's staff to Limited English Proficient (LEP) patients and family members

· Apply technical knowledge and skills for accurate verbal consecutive or simultaneous interpretation, and sight-translation

· Follow guidelines of interpreter's professional code of ethics from the National Council on Interpreting in Healthcare (NCIHC)

· Provide continuous assistance and training to interpreter colleagues

· Act as a cultural liaison and resource to the hospital to provide effective communication and services to LEP patients and Families
